Now, I have plans still to write “the next big thing” as all writers like to claim, or write a book that will “change the world,” etc in that same vein. However, in the meantime I’ve been editing – rather tiresomely and catastrophically for my mental health – the three decades worth of poetry by a dear friend, that has recently been organized collectively in an anthology I self-published for his and our mutual friends’ delight. I think self-publishing has yet to receive the attention it so deserves, particularly since in this country the books that highlight the lists of New York Times or other review columns tend to be of a very populist, mediocre nature, making many of us think “well, gee, I can write a better story than that!” Who knows… perhaps self-publishing will allow people to better make the decision for themselves without relying on higher powers of intellect or prestige to pre-digest the decision for them.
So for now, please enjoy my tongue-in-cheek testament to my friend, Of That Which The: A Poetry Anthology by Rodger Bridwell.
